In the coming time, pressure on long-term bond yields will increase as the US Government has to step up borrowing to cover the budget deficit as well as pay off old debt due.

In fiscal year 2023 (from October 2022 to September 2023), the US government overspends by 1,690 billion USD, an increase of 23% (equivalent to 314 billion USD) compared to the previous year.

The total debt of the US Government is currently about 33,000 billion USD and 45% of this has a maturity date in 2023 and 2024.
