After years of planning, it is official With block height 12,965,000, Ethereum was hard forked earlier this morning, and five Ethereum Improvement Proposals (aka EIP) were deployed into the new fork. This includes the much-discussed EIP-1559, which essentially begins to “burn” ETH instead of giving it to the miners.
