South Korea Surprises and Prohibits Bitcoin Futures

BITSTAMP:BTCUSD   Bitcoin
Despite the announcement that the world's largest futures exchanges, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), will start investing in bitcoins soon, the South Korean government does not seem very excited about the possibility and stated which has plans to regulate exchanges and tax profits from encryption. The country also banned initial offers of currencies (ICOs).

South Koreans are some of the biggest buyers of digital coins in the world. According to Korbit brokerage CEO Tony Lyu, the idea that bitcoins are a good investment spread quickly across the country, so everyone wants to get into that universe as soon as possible.

Growth in the future

According to rumors, the idea is to start operating next summer (mid-June 2018).

Some South Korean companies have already prepared to offer the same services until the country's Financial Services Commission has ordered members of the Korea Financial Investment Association to suspend plans. The move thwarted the plans of at least two major securities firms that had already planned seminars for Bitcoin futures investors.
