FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS :Bitcoin Volatility and Transactions

Long
PEPPERSTONE:BTCUSD   Bitcoin
Price and Market Performance:

Bitcoin's price has been experiencing volatility, with periods of both growth and decline. In Q1, Bitcoin witnessed a solid rebound, gaining 70% and outperforming many large-cap assets. However, since reaching its yearly peak a month ago, Bitcoin has erased about 14% of its value. It is important to note that Bitcoin has managed to avoid large-scale collapses similar to those observed in previous years.

Transaction Activity and Wallet Trends:

We have Reuters reporting that Bitcoin's transaction activity has shown mixed signals. Daily transactions have reached an all-time high of 682,000, with a significant increase compared to previous peaks.
This surge can be attributed, in part, to the introduction of BRC-20 tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain. However, despite the increased transaction volume, the number of active Bitcoin wallets has been declining since mid-April, reaching the lowest point since summer 2021.
This decline could be linked to rising fees associated with BTC NFTs and BRC-20s.

Correlation with Ethereum:

The correlation between Bitcoin and Ethereum has weakened, reaching its weakest point in two years. This shift in correlation can be attributed to investors viewing Ethereum as an emerging market following its transition to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and considering Bitcoin as a hedge asset.

Options Expiry and Bullish Sentiment:

We have MSN and Cryptopolitan reporting that Bitcoin options contracts worth $2.26 billion were approaching their expiry date. Derivatives traders remained bullish, anticipating a potential upsurge as the positive attitude in the market intensified and bears retreated. The put/call ratio for Bitcoin options favored more call contracts, indicating investor predictions of future bullish trends.
Bitcoin-Only Exchanges and Regulatory Landscape:

Bitcoin-only exchanges have gained traction, offering a perceived safer option for investors, particularly amid regulatory uncertainties. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken enforcement actions against some crypto exchanges, which has prompted debates about its authority and its impact on innovation in the crypto space. Bitcoin has been classified as a commodity by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), distinguishing it from other tokens on crypto exchanges.

In summary, Bitcoin's price has shown volatility, with a rebound in Q1 followed by a decline. Transaction activity has reached all-time highs, but the number of active wallets has been decreasing. Bitcoin's correlation with Ethereum has weakened, and the market sentiment remains bullish, especially with approaching options expiry. Bitcoin-only exchanges have gained popularity, offering a perceived safer option for investors. The regulatory landscape, particularly regarding the SEC's enforcement actions, has been a topic of debate.

Based on the information, the sentiment towards Bitcoin appears to be more bullish. Here are the reasons:

🔹Bitcoin's Solid Rebound in Q1: Despite a recent decline in value, Bitcoin experienced a solid rebound in the first quarter, gaining 70% and outperforming many large-cap assets. This indicates positive market sentiment and a bullish trend during that period.

🔹Approaching Options Expiry and Bullish Sentiment: The anticipation of a potential upsurge as Bitcoin options contracts worth $2.26 billion approached their expiry suggests a prevailing bullish sentiment among derivatives traders. The higher number of call contracts compared to put contracts and the positive put/call ratio further support the notion of future bullish trends.

🔹Increasing Transaction Activity: Bitcoin's transaction activity has surged to an all-time high of 682,000 daily transactions. This growth in transaction volume, driven in part by the introduction of BRC-20 tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain, indicates increased interest and engagement with the cryptocurrency.

🔹Bitcoin-Only Exchanges as Safer Options: Bitcoin-only exchanges have gained popularity as investors seek out safer options amid regulatory uncertainties. This trend suggests a positive outlook on Bitcoin's long-term prospects and potential as a store of value.
