The fund is one of the few ETFs that provide a pure exposure to the insurance industry. It aims for quarterly cash distributions and capital appreciation from an actively managed, concentrated portfolio that comprises at least ten market-cap-selected life insurance companies listed on either the US or Canada. Holdings are typically equal-weighted, however, due to its active approach, weightings may deviate significantly. In an effort to generate additional income and lower the overall volatility, the fund employs a covered call option strategy on approximately 25% of the portfolio. Rebalancing and reconstitution usually occurs on an annual basis, subject to fund advisers discretion in line with corporate events. Prior to April, 22, 2021, the fund was named as CI First Asset U.S. & Canada Lifeco Income ETF.
