The fund defines short-term as a remaining maturity of one to five yearsa bit longer than somes one- to three-year definition of short-term, but still a reasonable take on the space. This means that BBSA may provide somewhat higher incomeand durationthan many competitors. The funds portfolio is comprehensive, including corporates, Treasurys, agencies, CMBS, and ABS. BBSAs exposure to mortgages is limited to 15-year mortgages. The fund uses a sampling method in tracking the index, which means it will invest in a sample of securities that collectively have an investment profile similar to that of the underlying index. The fund and the index undergoes monthly rebalance.
