The stock market of Argentina is comprised of several stock exchanges and the primary stock exchange is the Bolsa de Comercio de Buenos Aires (BCBA), internationally known as the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange, which was founded in 1854. It is headquartered in Buenos Aires, the country's capital, most populous city and vibrant financial center. The BCBA represents over 1,800 listings, among them actively traded companies such as BBVA Francés, Pampa Energía, Sociedad Comercial del Plata, Telecom Argentina and Banco Macro.

The BCBA has a benchmark stock index called the MERVAL Index, a basket-weighted index that tracks the performance of a portfolio of the largest publicly traded companies based in Argentina. It is widely used to track the stocks of Argentina. It also has another well-known index called the BURCAP. This index uses stocks that are included in the MERVAL as its components, weighting each stock according to its market capitalization.
