My gut tells me that whales are looking for as cheap a re-entry as possible, possibly the 1200 range support.
If you're living under a rock you maybe missed the slated August update that will burn ETH during transactions and the eventuality of phasing out miner rewards as we move to PoS and away from PoW.
Not everyone is excited about this, but ETH is not about pointless mining and energy vampirism. The goal is a secure decentralized network for computation and given the sentiment during the last selloff we can only hope these changes amount to a new impulse of support should these upgrades lead the world towards a climate conscious distributed computing platform.
I'll always be long on ETH, it's a great project and as a technological society we should all hope the promise it offers is fully realized.
Here's hoping the bulls HOdL the line and the devs succeed in the long term.
In the end it's not the price of ETH that matters but the accessibility of it to the masses and securing what could be the catalysis of a resource based economy.
